42 Claude Code Skills, Harnesses and Connectors — and How to Install Them
Everyone bookmarks lists like this one. Almost nobody installs anything from them, because a repo name and a star count do not tell you what the thing does or why you would want it.

A skill is a folder. Inside it sits a Markdown file called SKILL.md, and sometimes a few scripts beside it. That is the entire format.
স্কিল আসলে একটা ফোল্ডার। ভেতরে SKILL.md নামে একটা মার্কডাউন ফাইল, আর মাঝে মাঝে সাথে কয়েকটা স্ক্রিপ্ট। ফরম্যাটটা এটুকুই।
What makes it useful is when Claude reads it. The file opens with one short line describing the job it handles. Claude keeps only that line in mind. The moment your request matches, the rest of the file loads and Claude follows those instructions instead of improvising. A skill is a set of standing orders that stays out of the way until the right task shows up.

Claude Code looks in two places. A skill in your home folder works in every project; a skill inside a project is visible only there.

Not using the terminal? On Claude for web, desktop or Cowork the idea is identical and the path is shorter — upload the folder as a .skill file, or add the plugin from the marketplace panel. The SKILL.md inside is exactly the same file.

A skill teaches Claude how to do something. A connector gives Claude somewhere to do it. That is the whole distinction, and it is the one people mix up most often.

Connectors are built on MCP, the Model Context Protocol — an open standard for plugging a model into an outside system. One MCP server exposes Gmail. Another exposes your Postgres database, or Notion, or Slack, or the browser on your own machine. Claude sees them as tools it may call, with your permission, in the middle of a task.

Here is why it matters. A brilliant skill for writing your weekly investor update is useless if Claude cannot read last week’s numbers. Add a database connector and the same skill produces a real document instead of a template full of blanks. A skill with no connector is a chef with no ingredients. A connector with no skill is a full fridge and no recipe.

No. Installing a skill is copying a folder into ~/.claude/skills or clicking install in a marketplace panel. Writing your own skill means writing instructions in plain language in a Markdown file, which is closer to writing a good brief than to programming.

What is the difference between a skill and a connector?স্কিল আর কানেক্টরের পার্থক্য কী?
A skill is instructions — it teaches Claude how to do a job. A connector is access — it lets Claude reach Gmail, Notion, a database or a browser through MCP. You usually need both: instructions without data produce empty templates, and data without instructions produces nothing at all.

How many skills can I install at once?একসাথে কতগুলো স্কিল রাখা যায়?
Technically many, practically few. A skill loads only when your request matches its description, so idle skills cost almost nothing. The real limit is overlap: two skills that claim the same job will fight, and you will not be able to tell which one answered.

My skill is installed but Claude never uses it. Why?স্কিল ইনস্টল আছে, তবু ক্লদ ব্যবহার করছে না কেন?
Almost always the description line. Claude decides whether to load a skill from that one sentence, so if it says something broad like "helps with writing" it will rarely match. Rewrite it with the concrete words you would actually type, restart Claude Code, and try again.

Is it safe to install a skill from GitHub?GitHub থেকে স্কিল ইনস্টল করা কি নিরাপদ?
Treat it exactly like any other dependency. A skill can ship scripts that run on your machine, so open the folder and read SKILL.md and anything executable before you install. Prefer repositories with visible activity, and never paste API keys into a skill file.
